Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], January 6 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath criticized the previous governments for their approach to development and security on Saturday, asserting that these aspects hinge on mindset.
Addressing the program organized as a part of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra at Surajkund in Gorakhpur, Yogi said, "Unlike past governments that allowed encroachments, our government liberates occupied areas. While earlier governments supported anarchy and hooliganism, our government takes decisive measures to curb such elements and restore order in the state."
On the occasion, Chief Minister Yogi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development projects worth Rs 16.15 crore and also interacted with the beneficiaries of various schemes.
"The development projects include among others, the foundation stone laying of Kalyan Mandapam for the needy people, the Bhoomi pujan of which was also performed by the Chief Minister," the press release said.
Addressing the gathering present on this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi expressed the commitment of the double-engine government to prioritize public welfare alongside development.
CM Yogi further said, "The government is focused on ensuring that the benefits of schemes reach everyone without discrimination while fostering an improved environment for development and security. A strong identity and a positive perception of the state and country are only achieved through development, and this demands collective effort."
CM Yogi also said that when there is a single-party government at the Center and the state, then the benefits of development and employment generation schemes reach every needy without any discrimination.
CM Yogi highlighted the transformative changes brought about by the double-engine government over the past six years.
He noted that what was once a dream for the underprivileged--free housing, toilets, electricity, and gas connections--has become a reality under the present government.
"The increase in daily flights from Gorakhpur, rising from one to 14, showcases the progress in transportation facilities. The fertilizer factory, which had been closed for decades, has started functioning again," UP CM said.
CM Yogi also pointed out the remarkable turnaround of BRD Medical College, evolving from a struggling institution to a centre of excellence in medicine.
"The introduction of AIIMS has further enhanced healthcare services. The government's commitment to welfare is evident through initiatives like providing free houses, toilets, electricity, gas connections, and Ayushman cards to the impoverished," CM Yogi said.
He added, "Numerous schemes, such as Matru Vandana, Kanya Sumangala, and Samuhik Vivah Yojana, are empowering women, and programs like PM Mudra, SVANidhi, and ODOP are in place to generate employment opportunities for the youth. Farmers, too, benefit from schemes like PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Today a 'new Gorakhpur' is being seen in the 'new Uttar Pradesh' of 'new India'."
Noting that all the schemes that are going on today were never started after independence, the CM said, "This is happening because Prime Minister Narendra Modi has compassion for the poor. There is a dedicated resolve for the upliftment of the poor. If the poor are happy, there will be prosperity in their lives, and as the poor prosper, the country will also thrive. This prosperity will elevate India to the league of developed countries."
Underlining the significance of education as a catalyst for societal progress, the Chief Minister said, "In view of this, 18 Atal Residential Schools have been opened to provide free education with all arrangements to the children of workers. Soon, the foundation stone of 57 new Atal Residential Schools will also be laid."
The Chief Minister also mentioned 928 PM Shri schools being started in the state and Sainik School of Gorakhpur. He stated that the state is now providing education superior to that of convent schools.
CM Yogi extended his heartfelt wishes to everyone for the upcoming Khichdi Mela and the consecration ceremony of Lord Shri Ram.
He urged all citizens to actively participate in a cleanliness campaign, emphasizing the importance of making all religious places and their surroundings clean and beautiful before the consecration ceremony.
"This collective effort, he noted, would contribute to creating a serene and aesthetically pleasing environment for the auspicious events," the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said. (ANI)
