Patna (Bihar) [India], August 30 (ANI): After the Bihar Education Department reduced the number of festive holidays in government schools, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Chirag Paswan on Wednesday said that politics of appeasement is going on in Bihar.
"Politics of appeasement is going on in Bihar. The state is not able to develop yet because the people in power are doing politics on the basis of religion and caste," Chirag Paswan said.
Earlier today, the bihar">bihar-governments-education">Bihar government's education department has taken the decision to decrease the count of festive holidays in government schools.
Seema Kumari, a government school teacher on the Bihar Education Department reducing the number of festive holidays in government schools said "This is high-handedness by the government. They are giving only one holiday at a festival like 'Chath' Mahaparva.
"It is definite that the number of children would be very low on those festival days. We have to come and teach whether two students come or 20 or 200 students come," she said.
Meanwhile, Bihar Minister Ashok Choudhary spoke on the Bihar Education Department reducing the number of festive holidays in government schools.
"BJP is not bothered of education of children and rules and regulations. In the Right of Education Act 2009 there is a provision for primary schools to maintain a minimum of 200 working days from class 1 to 5. We amended it after looking into this," Ashok Choudhary said.
According to the official announcement, the number of festive holidays for government schools has been revised down to 11, which is a reduction from the previous count of 23 between the months of September and December.
As per the notice, "Raksha Bandhan holiday on August 31 will no longer be observed. Six-day holiday for Durga Puja has been shortened to a three-day break.
Similarly, the previously allocated nine-day holiday period spanning from November 13 to 21, which covered Diwali to Chhath, has undergone modifications.
Moreover, on Diwali, there will be a single-day holiday on November 12 and a one-day holiday has been designated for Chitragupta Puja on November 15.
Furthermore, the two-day holiday is scheduled for November 19 and 20 in observance of Chhath Puja. (ANI)
