New Delhi [India], Aug 5 (ANI): Greetings and felicitations for Vice-President elect Venkaiah Naidu are pouring from all over the nation, with Chief Ministers and MPs from various states and parties congratulating Naidu. Venkaiah Naidu was elected as the 13th Vice President of India in the 15th Presidential elections, on Saturday. Speaking to ANI, Chhattisgarh Chief Minster Raman Singh congratulated the designated Vice-President Naidu saying that 2.5 Crore population of Chhattisgarh greets him. "Venkaiah Naidu's life has been full of struggle, and he started politics from younger days," Chief Minister Raman Singh said. Chief Minister Singh further said that Naidu became an MLA and represented the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and now as the national President. "His experience will benefit the whole nation, and I think he has a close relation with Chhattisgarh as he knows the workers of Chhattisgarh very closely," he further said. Congratulating Venkaiah Naidu, Andhra Pradesh (AP) Chandrababu Naidu said that Andhra Prashes wishes him a great success in this arena and that the coming future will be very bright. "Naidu has the cadre and the capabilities to be the Vice-President of India. Our heartfelt regards to him," he said. Naidu further said that Venkaiah Naidu is experienced politician, has achieved and performed well in every part of his life. "I am humbled by the honour bestowed on me by electing me to the office of the Vice President of India, and by the virtue of which I will also be acting as the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. I am grateful to the Members of Parliament belonging to different political parties who in an overwhelming manner have supported my candidature cutting across party line. This speaks of the beauty of our parliamentary democracy. As the chairman of Rajya Sabha I will sincerely try to chair the functioning of the House to enable it to effectively further the larger interest of the nation," Naidu said at a gathering at his residence, where several political dignitaries descended to congratulate him. West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee also congratulated Naidu and said, "I Congratulate Naidu ji, our next Vice President of India. I wish him well. In tradition of democracy, Gopalkrishna Gandhi ji fought with dignity for certain ideal". Total 771 out of 785 MPs cast their votes today. However, it was revealed that 14 Members of Parliament (MPs) were not present during the voting process. Voting for Vice Presidential Election ended with a total poll percentage of 98.21%. The voting began at 10 a.m. earlier in the day. (ANI)
