"PM must inform Parliament about role played by US": CPI's D Raja

New Delhi [India], June 18 (ANI): Communist Party of India (CPI) General Secretary D. Raja on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi must inform the Parliament about the role played by the USA during Operation Sindoor.
D Raja asserted that the political parties have the right to demand a special parliament session be convened to take the members into confidence about the US's role.
"Mr Modi, as the PM, must tell the country what exactly happened. Why are Parliament, political parties & the people of India not being taken into confidence?" CPI Gen Secy D Raja said.
Emphasising the significance of the parliament, he stated, "India is a democracy, and the parliament should not become redundant." Why is the PM not telling Parliament what the role of Trump or his country is? The PM must inform the Parliament about the role played or not played by the US."
"I have no comments on what the Foreign Secretary has said. But there are questions. These questions are posed to PM Modi. Why can't the PM open his mouth and tell the people what exactly happened? ... The political parties have the right to demand that a special session of the parliament be convened to take the members into confidence. He has not cleared what talks he had with President Trump," the CPI Gen Secy D Raja told ANI.
This comes after Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 Summit, which took place in Canada. During the conversation, which lasted over half an hour, PM Modi briefed the US President about India's Operation Sindoor and firmly conveyed the message that India has never accepted and will never accept mediation on the issues with Pakistan.
Misri noted, "Prime Minister Modi made it clear to President Trump that during this entire episode, at no time, at any level, were issues such as the India-US trade deal or mediation by the US between India and Pakistan discussed. The halt to military action was discussed directly between India and Pakistan, through existing channels of the two armies, and was at the request of Pakistan."
He added, "Prime Minister Modi stressed that India has never accepted mediation, does not accept it, and will never accept it. There is complete political unanimity in India on this issue."
The remarks come after the US President had time and again claimed that he had used trade as a means for the cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan.
Misri stated that US President Trump understood the points made in detail by the Prime Minister and expressed support for India's fight against terrorism. (ANI)
