PM Modi's EPI: J.P. Nadda sets example
Ghughar (Himachal Pradesh) [India], May 2 (ANI): Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda set an exemplary precedent of humanity for other ministers and dignitaries to follow. Nadda on Tuesday stopped his cavalcade to ensure a proper passage for an ambulance in the Ghughar district of Himachal Pradesh. In a similar incident, Nadda, when he came across a car accident, arranged for an ambulance, which took the injured to the Tanda Medical College. This showcase of sheer humanity comes in the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserting that 'Every Person is Important' (EPI) in his recent 'Mann ki Baat' address to the nation. The red beacon on the cars belonging to dignitaries has also been done away with, with effect from May 1. The Union Cabinet decided to put an end to the practice of using such beacons in a decision that covers all government vehicles, including those ferrying the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers, central and state ministers and judges of the Supreme Court and high courts. The government has also decided to make amendments to the rule governing the use of blue beacons-these can only be used by vehicles such as ambulances, fire tenders and police cars in cases of emergency that will be notified. The Cabinet decision came at a time when questions are being raised about the arrogance of elected representatives, in the wake of Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad misbehaving with Air India officials after he was not given a business-class seat.
