PM Modi works for capitalists not for poor farmers: Rahul Gandhi
Kushinagar (Uttar Pradesh) [India], March. 1 (ANI): Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that the latter works only for capitalists and overlooks poor farmers. "The farmer who grows crops could not get advantage out of it. Modi did not help farmers. He broke his promises. He has forgiven debts of 50 families in last two and half year. He works only for the rich people of the country and does nothing for the youth and farmers," Gandhi said at rally here. Taking jibe at Prime Minister Modi, he said: "Narendra Modi says that 'Ganga Maa' has called him from Gujarat. I would like to ask him whether 'Ganga Maa' has only one son?" Stating that voice of poor farmers is not reaching Prime Minister Modi, Gandhi said: "When a farmer sees a bottle of insecticide, then only one thing comes in his mind that is to commit suicide by consuming it. Farmers' voices are being suppressed." Gandhi alleged that Prime Minister Modi misleads people by making false promises. "Prime Minister Modi said he would waive off farmer's loan if he wins the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. This is a sheer lie. He tries to build relation on the basis of his fake promises," Gandhi added. Campaigning for the sixth phase of Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh has reached its peak and political parties are making all out efforts to woo the voters in poll-bound areas. Forty nine constituencies spread over seven districts of eastern UP will go to polls in this phase on Saturday. These districts are Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Azamgarh, Mau and Ballia.(ANI)
