New Delhi [India], Feb. 26 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today stressed on the importance of technology and stated that the Indian economy has witnessed a shift to digital transactions.

New Delhi [India], Feb. 26 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today stressed on the importance of technology and stated that the Indian economy has witnessed a shift to digital transactions. Addressing the nation in the 29th episode of his Mann Ki Baat radio programme, he said India has witnessed lot of progress in the last few months post the November 8 demonetisation drive. "There has been an increase in the use of mobile wallets," he added. Prime Minister Modi said the country has witnessed implementation of two schemes namely the Lucky Grahak Yojana and Digidhan Vyapari Yojana. "The schemes focus on poor, neo middle class and middle class families. Aiming to grant incentives on cashless transactions, the schemes are available to RuPay Card holders across the country, incentives ranging from Rs. 50 to Rs. 3,000. Over 15,000 people, per day, are entitled to a cash reward of Rs. 1,000," said Prime Minister Modi. "The two schemes have garnered massive support from the public due to which digital payment has turned into a movement. Rewards more than Rs. 150 crores have been distributed so far. Participation has been recorded from all sectors of the economy, right from business to agriculture," he added. In commemoration of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's 125th birth anniversary, Prime Minister Modi encouraged the nation to download and use the BHIM App. "On account of Babasaheb Ambedkar's anniversary, we must try and get all 125 crore people of India to use the BHIM App. It has been successful so far in towns and cities," he added.
