PM Modi to meet President Obama  in Laos tomorrow
New Delhi [India], Sept. 7 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi and United States President Barack Obama will meet on Thursday on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit in Laos PDR. The White House announced on Wednesday that the US President would meet PM Modi on Thursday afternoon in Vientiane, Laos. Though the details of the meeting have not yet emerged, it is likely to be their last official engagement with President Obama's presidency set to end on January 20, 2017. Prime Minister Modi reached Laos capital Vientiane today to attend ASEAN-India and East Asia Summit. On the first day of his visit to Lao PDR, Prime Minister Modi met his Japanese Counterpart Shinzo Abe in Vientiane. The two leaders held discussions on making India-Japan ties stronger and more diverse, especially in the area of diversification of trade and investment ties. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said in the meeting, progress of India-Japan Civil Nuclear Cooperation Agreement Negotiations, High-Speed rail project, Industrial Parks and cooperation in ship breaking were discussed. Swarup said the Prime Minister appreciated Japanese support in infrastructure development, technology upgradation and skill building. (ANI)
