PM Modi, President Kovind condole Madan Lal Khurana’s demise

New Delhi [India], Oct 28 (ANI): Expressing grief over the demise of former Delhi chief minister Madan Lal Khurana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that the veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader will always be remembered for the manner in which he strengthened the party in Delhi.

New Delhi [India], Oct 28 (ANI): Expressing grief over the demise of former Delhi chief minister Madan Lal Khurana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that the veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader will always be remembered for the manner in which he strengthened the party in Delhi.
In a tweet, Prime Minister Modi said Khurana worked tirelessly for the progress of Delhi, particularly towards ensuring better infrastructure.
“Anguished by the passing away of Madan Lal Khurana Ji. He worked tirelessly for the progress of Delhi, particularly towards ensuring better infrastructure. He distinguished himself as a hardworking and people-friendly administrator, both in the Delhi government and Centre,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted.
Madan Lal Khurana Ji will always be remembered for the manner in which he strengthened the BJP in Delhi. He made unwavering efforts towards serving the post-partition refugees in Delhi. My thoughts and solidarity with his family and supporters,” he added.
President Ram Nath Kovind also condoled the death of Khurana.
“Sad to hear of the passing of Madan Lal Khurana. As Chief Minister of Delhi, Governor of Rajasthan and Union Minister, he contributed immensely to public life and particularly to the well-being of the national capital and its people,” President Kovind said in a tweet.
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu also took to Twitter to express grief and wrote, “Deeply saddened by demise of former Chief Minister of Delhi, Madan Lal Khurana. He will be remembered for his immense contribution for growth and development of Delhi. My heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family members and pray for his soul rest in peace.”
Also, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted, “Madan Lal Khurana Ji was a hardworking and sensitive politician whose heart beat for Delhi throughout his life. He worked on different constitutional posts and left his mark everywhere. His demise is a big loss for all of us. May God give his family strength and courage to bear the huge loss.”
Naidu, Singh and veteran BJP leader LK Advani paid their last respects to Khurana today.


Khurana breathed his last on Saturday at the age of 83 following a prolonged illness.
The former Delhi chief minister is survived by his wife Raj Khurana, son Harish Khurana and daughter Poonam Gulati.
Earlier this year, his son Vimal Khurana died due to cardiac arrest. (ANI)
