Patna (Bihar) [India], September 30 (ANI): Jan Suraaj founder and election strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor on Monday called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a "weaker PM" in his third term and said that the popularity and strength of PM Modi have dropped.
"PM Modi is a weaker PM in his third term, you can see that. But I had said before elections that whatever be the number of seats they get, in his third term he would prove to be weaker because people have seen his work on the ground for 10 years...People of Bihar gave more than 30 seats to the BJP in 2014. In 2019, the state gave them 39 seats. This time too, they won more than 30 seats. But what change came in the lives of people of Bihar?...If nothing happened, the number of supporters of PM Modi from 2014 and 2019 will obviously go down...Whether the allies would be with him, is something they would know," Kishor told ANI.
He further said that Prime Minister Modi' popularity and strength have dropped.
"But it is clear that PM Modi's popularity and strength have dropped. The longevity would depend on the elections in 9 states in the next 2-2.5 years, if results are against the BJP, questions will rise on the stability of the government. If the BJP performs well, their strength will remain the same," he added.
On Congress MP and Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi, the Jan Suraaj founder said that .Rahul Gandh's leadership in Congress is fully established, adding that the Congress leader still has a long way to go in becoming a leader of the nation.
"There has been a little improvement in Congress's condition...Rahul Gandhi made efforts in the last 1.5-2 years, and he has benefitted through that too. His leadership in Congress is fully established...But he is now established as the leader of Congress, not that of the country. His grandmother, Indira Gandhi faced the biggest loss of her life in 1977 - I think Congress won 154 seats at that time. This (2024 polls) is being dubbed as the biggest win of Rahul Gandhi's life and Congress has won 99 seats. So, this is the difference. It shows that Rahul Gandhi still has a long way to go in becoming a leader of the nation," he added.
The declaration of results of the 18th Lok Sabha election in the 543-member Parliament saw the BJP-led NDA winning 294 seats and the INDIA bloc bagging 234 seats. (ANI)
