Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], May 24 (ANI): The Congress party on Friday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave step-motherly treatment to Himachal Pradesh during the disaster.
"The Prime Minister gave step-motherly treatment to Himachal during the disaster, and now, he is coming to Himachal to ask for votes," Congress general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal said.
He said, "An attempt was made to topple the Himachal government by buying six MLAs."
The remarks of Congress' general secretary KC Venugopal came while he addressed a press conference today with Himachal Pradesh Congress leader Rajeev Shukla at Congress headquarters Rajiv Bhawan, Shimla.

Taking to his official X handle, KC Venugopal said, "The BJP's complete apathy towards the people of Himachal Pradesh during and after the monsoon calamity last year and their desperate attempts to destabilise the state government using money and muscle power, its betrayal of the youth through schemes like Agniveer, and the terrible plight of apple farmers of Himachal Pradesh were some of the burning issues that will ensure the BJP's defeat in Himachal Pradesh as well."
Both the Congress leaders also asserted that the INDIA bloc government is going to be formed in the country.
KC Venugopal said that the PM is also aware that the INDIA bloc will win the elections. "Till now, the Prime Minister has only lied in his election speeches. Today, there is no talk of unemployment and inflation in the country. Farmers are on the streets with their demands. He made three anti-farmer laws," KC Venugopal said.
Meanwhile, Rajeev Shukla said that the promises made by the Prime Minister to Himachal were not discussed today on even a single issue. "The PM has not said a word regarding the disaster. There was no mention of the problem faced by apple growers. Modi said in the speech that Congress was afraid of Pakistan. But the truth is that Congress had divided Pakistan into two pieces," Shukla said.
Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday addressed public rallies in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla and Mandi.
Polling in all four seats in Himachal is scheduled for June 1. It will not only pit candidates vying for Lok Sabha membership from four seats but also elect members for six assembly seats that fell vacant following the resignation and switchover of dissident Congress lawmakers.
The BJP, which won all four Lok Sabha constituencies in the state in the 2019 elections, is eyeing an encore this time. (ANI)
