Dibrugarh (Assam) [India], April 14 (ANI): Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Dibrugarh Lok Sabha seat Sarbanand Sonowal said it is clear after 10 years of his rule that Prime Minister Narendra Modi fulfils whatever guarantees he gives.
"It is clear that with what PM Modi did in 10 years, people believe that PM Modi will be able to do this too (guarantees in 2024 manifesto). He fulfils the guarantees he gives," Sonowal said in an exclusive interview with ANI after BJP released it election manifesto on Sunday.
"Everyone feels proud that India has a unique and respectable identity before the world. Guarantees in Sankalp Patra will be fulfilled. Every section of society will be benefited," he added.
On maintaining peace in the Northeast, former Chief Minister of Assam Sonowal said, "I have myself seen what condition the Congress party had created in the North East earlier...This region, which was full of wealth, power and potential, was ruined by the misrule of the Congress party and their corrupt practices and discrimination policy...Due to this, the North East had to lag behind a lot, but due to the facilities and support given to the North East in the last 10 years during Modi ji's tenure, the North East has woken up."
"Today, the identity of the North East is not only in the country but this region has established its identity all over the world," he added.
BJP candidate from Dibrugarh Sonowal further told ANI, "The Prime Minister directed every Union Minister to visit the North East. Within 10 years, the Prime Minister himself visited the North East more than 64 times and that's why the people of the North East have started feeling that Modi ji has done a lot for us, to take us forward...
"The people of North East have a lot of faith in Modi ji and it has been promised that the Armed Forces Special Power Act will also be withdrawn in a phased manner. This is a precious gift given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the people of the northeast..
Sonowal alleged that Congress has miserably failed in the last 60 years in North East..
Speaking on the removal of AFSPA in the poll manifesto, Sonowal said, "We will continue our efforts to address the issues in the disturbed areas and remove AFSPA in a phased manner. We will further work toward resolution of inter-state border disputes amongst Northeastern states through sustained efforts."
On the proposal of 'One Nation, One Election', Sonowal said, "It is a very good idea...I welcome it. Every citizen of the country is waiting for this thing to happen. It will be possible because PM Modi can do this as someone who has loyalty, honesty, ability and the biggest quality of hard work. He can take big decisions, I think that in the last 10 years whatever decision has been taken, whatever step has been taken by PM Modi every step, every decision has proved successful and it will be the same in the coming days too..."
