PM Modi corners Congress over Pitroda's 'Hua to Hua' and Aiyar's 'Neech Aadmi' remarks

Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], May 14 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday cornered Congress party over Sam Pitroda's 'Hua to Hua' and former Union Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar's 'Neech Aadmi' remarks.
Terming Pitroda as the loyal courtier of Congress president Rahul Gandhi's family, Modi said: "When someone closest to the family of 'Naamdar' says 'Hua to Hua' about 1984 anti-Sikh riots, then you can guess whose language he is speaking."
"I can say with conviction that if the election would not have been around the corner, then he (Rahul Gandhi) would not have said a word to his 'Guru," said Prime Minister Modi, who was addressing an election rally here in support of sitting BJP MP Kirron Kher.
Prime Minister Modi said: "As soon as the election in Punjab is over, he (Congress president Rahul Gandhi) will once again start hugging his Guru (Sam Pitroda)."
"When scams worth lakhs of crores happened, then also Congress thought -- Hua to Hua. When the relatives of Railway Minister (Pawan Bansal) resorted to corruption in hiring, Congress thought 'Hua to Hua.' Our military men were rattled because the OROP was not implemented, the Congress thought 'Hua to Hua."
Taking a potshot at the Congress over Aiyar's 'Neech aadmi' remark, Prime Minister Modi said that his expulsion from the party for his 'Neech' remark made in 2014 was a 'drama.'
"Remember, when Gujarat elections were there, a minister (Mani Shankar Aiyar) in their (UPA) government had said -- Modi is 'Neech' (low class). Someone said Modi is of 'Neech Jaati' (low caste). There was a storm in Gujarat. Then they did a drama by expelling him from the party. After some time, they took him back," he said.
"The Congress party does not think what he (Mani Shankar Aiyar) did was wrong," added the Prime Minister.
Claiming that the 'Naamdar' family has been ruling this country with a similar mindset for decades, Modi said: "Someone who abused me, he used extremely bad words for me. He (Mani Shankar Aiyar) reiterated the same thing yesterday. Now he is saying it with even more confidence that there is nothing wrong in the abuses that he showered on me. With a similar mindset, the family of 'Naamdar' has ruled the country for decades."
The Congress leader Aiyar had on Tuesday said that he stands by his 'Neech Aadmi' remark against Prime Minister Modi and termed his December 2017 remark about the Prime Minister as 'prophetic.'
"I said what I wanted to say in that article. I stand by every word. I have no desire to engage in any argument," Aiyar told ANI over the phone.
The Congress party had distanced itself from the remarks made by Aiyar. The Congress party's national spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill said that the article only expresses the personal opinion of Aiyar.
"It is also very imperative for you to read the last part of the article you are referring to where he says the opinion and the remarks are the personal opinions of the author," said Shergill in a press statement.
The Prime Minister also claimed that the nation was electing a 'strong government' and not a 'helpless' one. "The country is choosing India first over 'family first.' The country is choosing development over dynasty. The country is choosing those who hit terror in their backyard and not those who hide after terror attacks," he said.
The Prime Minister also accused his rivals of insulting the plans and schemes formulated by his government. "This is the same gang of Congress and its courtiers who used to say the people of India are illiterate," he said.
He claimed that his opponents were rattled thinking how a 'Chaiwala' can work on next-generation infrastructure. Prime Minister Modi also claimed that the world has appreciated the work done during cyclone 'Fani.'
Chandigarh, a Union Territory, goes to poll on May 19, the last phase of seven-phased Lok Sabha elections. The counting of votes will take place on May 23. (ANI)
