New Delhi [India], May 24 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has acknowledged that the excise policy case is "fake" due to the lack of evidence and asked the PM to release everyone who have been arrested in the matter.
Addressing a virtual press conference, Delhi CM said the BJP has been screaming that there has been a scam but nothing was found during the raids.
"They(BJP) said a liquor scam happened and they arrested me, Sanjay Singh, Manish Sisodia. More than 500 raids were conducted but not even a single penny was recovered. Yesterday, in an interview, the Prime Minister said that evidence was not found because Kejriwal is an experienced thief," Delhi Chief Minister said.
He further said that if there no proof, no recovery then leave all those who have been arrested.
"So the Prime Minister confessed that he has no evidence in the liquor scam and to hide it he said that Kejriwal is an experienced thief...When you have already confessed that the entire liquor scam is fake, you have no proof, no recovery then leave all those who have been arrested," he added.
Earlier in an interview, PM Modi called the Delhi Chief Minister an "experienced thief" and said "A former government official who knows how ED, CBI will progress in a case can cover up a lot."
Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed the bail petitions moved by Manish Sisodia, Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi in liquor policy cases.
Sisodia had sought bail in cases being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Sisodia has been in custody since February 26, 2023, after arrest by the CBI. Thereafter, he was arrested by the ED.

Arvind Kejriwal was released from Delhi's Tihar Jail on May 10, 50 days after he was jailed on corruption charges linked to the alleged liquor policy scam and hours after the Supreme Court granted him bail until June 1. (ANI)
