Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh) [India], Mar 29 (ANI): Slamming Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for snapping ties with the NDA at the Centre, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday called him a 'U-turn babu' who has taken a U-turn in the state's development and aligned with those who are on 'bail-cart'.
"It is said that there are no scams in the government schemes. However, the schemes in its own are to commit corruption," Modi said adding, "People of Andhra know whose safes are being stashed with the ill-gotten money from these scams. When your Chowkidaar questioned this, U-turn babu has taken a U-turn from AP development and separated themselves from NDA," the Prime Minister said addressing an election rally here.
"Now 'U-turn babu' has found those people who run on 'bail-gaadi' and are on bail in corruption cases," he added while referring to 'bail-gaadi' in an apparent reference to senior Congress leaders who are out on bail for their alleged involvement in different corruption cases.
Naidu-led TDP walked out of NDA government at the Centre last year on the issue of special status to Andhra Pradesh.
Taking a jibe at the Chief Minister, the Prime Minister accused Naidu of putting stickers of welfare schemes which have been introduced by the central government.
"For their self-interest, those who are running government here are spreading lies. U-turn babu has pasted stickers central schemes. That is why people have now started calling him 'Sticker Babu' as well," Modi said.
"Under Centre's PM Kisan scheme, 12 crores families of small farmers are receiving Rs 75 crore. This scheme is set to benefit 82 lakh farmers of Andhra Pradesh. 'U-turn babu' has pasted his sticker on PM Kisan scheme," he added.
Speaking to the state project of Polavaram dam, the Prime Minister said, "It is their bad intentions that have kept the farmers of the state thirsty. Polavaram dam is a symbol of the same intention. This project is in construction for seven decades. The Centre has released Rs 7,000 crore. They keep on increasing the cost. This has led to a shortage of water and lack of establishment of industries."
"Two big things are going to happen with your one vote. On April 11, when the state will go to polls, the sun of Andhra Pradesh will rise and corruption will end," Modi said while asking the voters to exercise their franchise for double engine growth of the state which means BJP at the Centre and the State.
He added, "The development work being done in AP, could be implemented at a faster pace had they not been busy in political and financial growth of their sons and relatives. Check the list of TDP candidates. There are people belonging only to the family of U-turn babu."
Election to the 175-member Andhra Pradesh Assembly is scheduled to be held on April 11 simultaneously with the Lok Sabha polls for 19 parliamentary seats. The counting of votes will take place on May 23. (ANI)
