Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], April 3 (ANI): Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public meeting in Cooch Behar tomorrow, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Shashi Panja on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Modi's frequent visits to the state come during election times.
"PM Modi arrives more often here during elections...His leaders peddle lies about the fact that the state has got its money; however, the state government (TMC) is saying that the West Bengal has not received its money. So, on these opposite statements, PM Modi should speak or show some papers through which it can be certain that on this day or date, money has been accorded to the state (West Bengal)," Panja told ANI on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister would address its first rally in West Bengal's Cooch Behar on Thursday after the announcement of the poll schedule by the Election Commission on March 16.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Modi interacted with the BJP Karyakartas in West Bengal and said that every party Karyakarta in West Bengal is working tirelessly to serve the people of the state.
"Every BJP Karyakarta in West Bengal is working tirelessly to serve the people of the state. @BJP4Bengal is a shining example for our cadres nationwide. Interacting with our hardworking Karyakartas," PM Modi posted on X.
PM Modi engaged in a significant interaction with BJP Karyakartas from West Bengal via the NaMo App and underlined the party's unwavering commitment to effectively communicate its governance agenda across the state.
During this session, PM Modi delved into insightful discussions with Karyakartas, addressing pivotal issues and seeking feedback on grassroots initiatives.
"Over the past 10 years, the Central Government has created numerous avenues for the youth. The youth have our full support. We have brought many initiatives to transform the lives of the poor... over 25 crore people have moved out of poverty," the Prime Minister said.
He expressed admiration for the resolute determination of BJP Karyakartas in West Bengal, who persistently work amidst challenging circumstances and opposition from the TMC.
"Their steadfast dedication to public service amidst personal crises is commendable and contributes to the growing trust of the people in the BJP," he added.
PM Modi urged BJP Karyakartas in West Bengal to continue to serve the people courageously despite facing hostility, as it will increase trust and support.
"During elections, in West Bengal, the biggest issue is of violence. The Election Commission has made special arrangements for the security and safety of the people. We all also monitor the events that unfold in West Bengal. You have to encourage people to vote fearlessly," he said.
The Prime Minister further extended his wishes to all BJP Karyakartas on the auspicious occasions of Navratri, Ram Navami and Eid, encouraging them to continue their dedicated service to the people of West Bengal.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) secured 22 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 18 out of the 42 parliamentary seats in the state. The Indian National Congress (INC) was limited to only two seats.
The Lok Sabha elections in 42 Parliamentary Constituencies of West Bengal are scheduled to take place in seven phases, which will start on April 19 and conclude on June 1. The counting of votes will be held on June 4. (ANI)
