PM Modi, Amit Shah's political vendetta won't succeed: Cong on Gujarat MLAs
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], Aug. 03 (ANI): With the news of around 44 Gujarat Congress MLAs lodging in Bengaluru doing the rounds, Karnataka state Congress Committee president G. Parameshwara on Thursday said that they would not let the political vendetta of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah succeed. "They are trying their best to ensure Ahmed Patel does not win in the elections. It is a political vendetta by the Prime Minister and Amit Shah. All this will not work," Parameshwara told the media here. Responding to a poser on them paying the Gujarat Congress MLAs a visit, Parameshwara said that they had not gone there to convince them to stay back, but only to assure them of all the help, if needed. The Karnataka state Congress Committee president further stated that all the MLAs that have come from Gujarat are happy and healthy. "Tomorrow, we have also organised our programmes related to what we have implemented in Karnataka in the last four years, related to poverty alleviation, employment etc. The Karnataka model will be informed to them, so that it is useful for them in the coming elections in December," he said. Earlier on Sunday, the Congress accused the BJP of buying and threatening their MLAs in Gujarat for Rs 15 crore and parading its 44 MLAs in Bengaluru. The Congress had earlier said that the BJP is using "money, muscle and state power" to engineer defection, after at least six of its MLAs resigned to join the BJP. In this backdrop, the Election Commission of India on Saturday sought an inquiry report from the Chief Secretary of Gujarat by Monday over the allegations made by the Congress. (ANI)
