"Planning to set up separate corporation for veterans": Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar

Speaking at the Jai Hind Sabha event organised by the Congress party to honour the armed forces, he said, "We are contemplating setting up a separate corporation as per the advice of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge. We are committed to protecting our servicemen who protect our nation."

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], May 28 (ANI): Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Wednesday said that the state government is planning to set up a separate corporation for ex-servicemen.
Speaking at the Jai Hind Sabha event organised by the Congress party to honour the armed forces, he said, "We are contemplating setting up a separate corporation as per the advice of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge. We are committed to protecting our servicemen who protect our nation."
"I would like to thank all the servicemen for their contribution to the security of the nation. This event is a testimony that Congress party remembers and recognises our soldiers contribution," he said.
Several ex-servicemen, families of martyrs were felicitated on the occasion, including Ashok Chakra recipient Major Unnikrishnan, Ashok Chakra recipient Colonel Jojan Thomas, Shaurya Chakra recipient Major M C Muttanna, Shaurya Chakra recipient Major Ganesh Maddappa, Shaurya Chakra recipient Captain M V Panjal, Shaurya Chakra recipient Major Mohan Gangadharan, Major Shafiq Mohammed Khan, Sena medal winner Colonel Ramamurthy.
The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee had organised the Jai Hind Sabha as per the directions of the All India Congress Committee. More than a thousand defence personnel, including senior officials, ex-servicemen and families of martyrs, attended the function.
The Congress party is holding 'Jai Hind Sabhas' from May 20 to May 30 across India to salute the Armed Forces.
On May 15, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal posted on X, "Indian National Congress will hold 'Jai Hind Sabhas' across India to salute the supreme valour and success of our Armed Forces. We also must raise serious questions on security lapses, the Government's handling of national security, and its silence on the concerning involvement of the US in our national security matters."
"From May 20-30, Jai Hind Sabhas will be held in Delhi, Barmer, Shimla, Haldwani, Patna, Jabalpur, Pune, Goa, Bengaluru, Kochi, Guwahati, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar and Pathankot, involving army veterans, party leaders, and the general public," the post added. (ANI)
