PFA denies association with Kalkaji 'vigilante attack'
New Delhi [India], Apr 24 (ANI): People For Animals (PFA) activist Gaurav Gupta on Monday denied any association with the Kalkaji 'vigilante attack', where three men transporting buffaloes in the national capital were allegedly assaulted. Talking to ANI, Gupta said neither the PFA nor any NGO has to do anything with this. "Those who were carrying buffaloes in trucks beat women named Vandana. The mob got angry and said that at one hand they are smuggling the animals and at another they are beating the women. First we called the police. We made a police complaint and filed the case," he added. Gupta said he tipped off the police about ferrying of the buffaloes to the Ghazipur slaughterhouse in east Delhi, following which the assault occurred. Meanwhile, the victim said the people who assaulted them were from some NGO. "They started beating us, snatched our phones and money. Even when we told them we daily transport buffaloes legally.People who assaulted us were from some NGO. The police helped us and took us to the hospital," he added. According to reports, the Delhi Police had earlier in the day arrested a 32-year-old man for assaulting three men who were transporting buffaloes in the national capital. Shashank Sharma, the accused, was part of a group of 10-12 people that allegedly attacked Rizwan, Kamil and Ashu, who were transporting 14 buffaloes in a truck in south Delhi. On Sunday, Delhi Police had said that the three men were transporting the animals for legal slaughter, but still arrested Rizwan, Kamil and Ashu under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. The three were later released on bail. The three men were transporting 14 buffaloes in a truck to east Delhi's Ghazipur mandi when they were stopped. The victims have been identified as Rizwan (25), Ashu (28) and Kamil (25). Currently, a case has been registered against them under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. (ANI)
