"Person who calls himself 'Aam Aadmi' using gold plated commode": BJP's Shazia Ilmi slams Kejriwal

"During the Corona period when people of Delhi were struggling, this person was thinking about how to buy massage chairs, curtains, recliners, chandeliers, luxury kitchen stuff," Ilmi said.

New Delhi [India], January 8 (ANI): Coming out heavily against the Aam Aadmi Party, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Shazia Ilmi called it a party of "hooligans" and "expert liar" and questioned its national convenor Arvind Kejriwal over his 'common man' image and said he is using luxury items like "gold-plated fixtures, expensive curtains, and massage chairs."
Speaking to ANI, Ilmi said, "Aam Aadmi Party is a party of hooligans, fanatical, expert liars, who have one by one harmed the dignity of the CM post or any other elected government. The person who used to call himself Aam Aadmi behind whom we all stood and for whom Anna Hazare nearly died, is using a gold-plated commode, curtains worth Rs 4 crores. During the Corona period when people of Delhi were struggling, this person was thinking about how to buy massage chairs, curtains, recliners, chandeliers, luxury kitchen stuff."
Attacking AAP further over the 'Sheesh Mahal' controversy, the BJP leader said the '6, Flagstaff' residence has become a "symbol of corruption" adding that it should be turned into a museum for public display.
"When Sheila Dikshit ran the government from AB-17, why can't Atishi? And if she can't, why did she demand it in the first place? 6, Flagstaff has itself become a symbol of corruption in itself... No work was done on roads or tanker mafia, but the making of 'Sheesh Mahal' was done properly...Himanta Biswa Sarma has rightfully said that it should be turned into a museum because people should see how the money that was supposed to be for the poor was snatched and used for their (AAP) own luxury," the BJP leader added.
Earlier on Tuesday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took a jibe at AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal and said that his only interest left in Delhi is to see the 'Sheesh Mahal'.
Speaking to the media in the national capital, CM Himanta said that all the Chief Ministers should be given a chance to see the 'Sheesh Mahal' once.
"I believe that the 'Sheesh Mahal' should be declared a national museum and we should also get a chance to see it once. So that I can see if we can make a replica of the 'Sheesh Mahal' in Assam as well. The only interest I have left in Delhi is the 'Sheesh Mahal'. I went to see the Mohalla clinic once or twice but there is nothing to see," the Assam CM said.
He added, "First, I thought it would be a replica of the Taj Mahal. Now I feel that the only thing Kejriwal ji has made in Delhi is the 'Sheesh Mahal' and I have a desire to see it once. I will try to go there once whenever I get a chance. I request all the CMs should be given a chance to see the 'Sheesh Mahal' once."
The elections in Delhi are scheduled to be held in a single phase on February 5 and the counting of votes will be done on February 8.
Incumbent AAP, which won the previous two terms with massive margins -- 67 and 62 out of 70 seats -- is facing a stiff two-pronged challenge against BJP and the Congress. (ANI)
