Tiruchirappalli (Tamil Nadu) [India], December 22 (ANI): Tamil Nadu BJP State Secretary Nainar Nagendran addressed the media in Tiruchirappalli and made several remarks targeting the DMK government. He said that in the elections scheduled for April next year, the people would deliver an "appropriate verdict" to the ruling party.
Speaking to the media, he took a jibe at Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, saying the Chief Minister had been camping in Tirunelveli for the past two days and inaugurating hospitals, with 60 per cent of the funding coming from the Central Government. He added that it would have been appropriate to invite Union Ministers to the hospital inauguration ceremonies.
Nainar Nagendran alleged that the DMK had promised to extend the 100-day employment scheme to 150 days if it came to power, but instead, several irregularities have occurred. He said that, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts, the court has ordered 125 days of employment, with an assurance that work will be provided during the non-agricultural seasons.
He criticised the DMK for alleging that the name of Mahatma Gandhi had been changed and questioned whether the ruling party truly follows secularism. He accused the DMK of pursuing flawed policies in the name of secularism. He said that in the elections scheduled for April next year, the people would deliver an appropriate verdict.
He stressed that providing 100 days of employment is more important than the scheme's name and that renaming the programme is not a significant issue. He added that it is sufficient if leaders' names are remembered in some form.
Stating that conducting the Special Intensive Revision of the voter list properly is the Chief Minister's responsibility, he said that only the people can decide during elections what kind of "power" actor-turned-politician Vijay represents. He alleged that Vijay's objective is to ensure that the DMK does not remain in power and said that if Vijay understands how multi-cornered contests can defeat the DMK and acts accordingly, it would be better. He remarked that not everyone who starts a party can come to power like M.G. Ramachandran.
He asserted that the upcoming elections would not be "unfavourable" to the BJP but would be "advantageous". He claimed that in the last polls their alliance won 75 seats and said that, given the current political situation, the "wind blowing in Bihar will reach Tamil Nadu as well."
Calling the BJP the largest party in the world, he said the party does not invite anyone into an alliance. Still, he added that if the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) wishes, it may join the BJP-led coalition.
He alleged that schools have been granted holidays to conduct the Chief Minister's programmes and claimed that 208 schools in Tamil Nadu have not admitted any students. He further alleged that the state cannot even appoint a Director General of Police (DGP).
Referring to the Tirupparankundram issue, he said a resolution was passed using forged signatures against a judge. He assured that those responsible would be identified and that action would be taken.
He also claimed that Tiruchirappalli has become the capital of suicides, and alleged that 17 ministers in Tamil Nadu are facing cases.
He said that when verdicts are delivered in these cases, they should be broadcast prominently on Sun TV so that Dayanidhi Maran can see them.
Nainar Nagendran made these remarks during a media briefing in Tiruchirappalli. (ANI)
