New Delhi [India], October 25 (ANI): BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla on Saturday launched a scathing attack on RJD leader and Mahagathbandhan CM face, Tejashwi Yadav, saying that the people who indulged in the "Lands for Jobs" scam now talk about providing jobs in Bihar.
Speaking to ANI, Poonawalla challenged Yadav over his political alliances, asking whether he would dare break ties with Congress and DMK, whom the BJP leader claimed have insulted the people of Bihar.
"Has Rahul Gandhi or Sonia Gandhi taken birth in Bihar?... The people who did Land for Jobs scam talk about providing jobs today. Who knows how much land they will acquire for this? If he worries for Bihar, will he dare to break ties with Congress and DMK, who have insulted the people of Bihar?" he said.
BJP candidate from Danapur Assembly constituency, Ram Kripal Yadav claimed that if Tejashwi Yadav even won 10 seats, that would be very significant for him.
"Tejashwi Yadav is happily dreaming, and he should keep doing so... His condition is quite poor. Judging by people's attitude, I think even if he won at least 10 seats, that would still be very significant... Regarding what he said, Nitish Kumar, let me tell everyone that he is perfectly fine and will be fine... He has done development for people... That's why people are ready to support him...," Ram Kripal Yadav said.
Uttar Pradesh Minister Suresh Khanna raised questions about Yadav's family legacy, citing allegations of "land grabbing" against his father.
"Tejashwi Yadav spoke about providing employment to people. However, his father is facing allegations of land grabbing in exchange for jobs... Everyone's previous record should be considered so that it is known what the history of their families is," he said.
Commenting on the Mahagathbandhan's internal seat-sharing disputes, Khanna described the alliance as "fragile", asserting that its members are focused on their own political gains.
"Their coalition is very fragile. They are friends on the surface, but their trust in each other is gone... They simply want to play politics on their own terms... People there have decided that NDA will win with a large majority when the time comes," the UP Minister said.
Earlier on October 22, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav held a press conference in Patna, announcing several welfare initiatives for women.
He announced that Jeevika Didis, who works as a community mobiliser, will be made permanent as a government employee after the Mahagathbandhan forms the government in Bihar.
Tejashwi Yadav assured that the salary of Jeevika Didis will be increased to Rs 30,000 per month. He also took a dig at the double-engine government over its decision to provide Rs 10,000 under the Mai Bahin Maan Yojana as assembly elections get closer, labelling it as a "bribe".
"They distributed Rs 10,000 under the Mai Bahin Maan Yojana for the women of Bihar, which is a bribe. This is a loan, Amit Shah himself said it. This means that they will recover this money. Today, we are going to make another historic announcement," Yadav said.
Tejashwi Yadav announced that the future Mahagathbandhan government will waive the interest on loans taken by Jeevika Didis and will be given interest-free credit for the next two years. (ANI)
