Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 22 (ANI): Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Telangana president G Kishan Reddy on Wednesday launched a scathing attack against the Congress party and Sonia Gandhi, saying that it is not she who made Telangana but the people who sacrificed their lives for it.
"The Telangana movement is an old movement. It started in 1969, when Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister. 369 students were then killed by the Congress party in a police firing. In the movement before 2013, 1500 people died by suicide. Sonia Gandhi is responsible for all those suicides," he said.
Lashing out further, G Kishan Reddy said, "Sonia Gandhi hasn't made Telangana, but people have snatched it by thrashing and holding protests. She has nothing to do with that. Under which protocol will Sonia Gandhi be invited to the government function? If they want to invite her, do it in the party's office and felicitate her for the killing of 1500 people."
Earlier in the day, G Kishan Reddy took a dig at the Congress, the ruling party of the state, and slammed them for unfulfillment of the promises they had made during the assembly elections.
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy criticised Revanth Reddy's government for making false promises while stating that Congress has betrayed Telangana farmers in the name of loan waivers and increased Minimum Support Prices (MSPs).
Reddy also criticised Telangana CM Revanth Reddy for conducting misleading campaigns against the BJP.
The Lok Sabha elections in Telangana are witnessing a triangular contest between the ruling Congress, the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), and the BJP.
Voting for all 17 seats in Telangana concluded in the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha polls on May 13. Telangana witnessed a high voter turnout of 65.67 per cent, according to the Election Commission of India's data. (ANI)
