People run away with cots again at Rahul Gandhi's Mirzapur rally
Mirzapur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Sept. 14 (ANI): Moments after Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's public meeting ended in Mirzapur, locals once again broke into fights over 'khats' and within seconds decamped with all the cots from the venue. The locals were seen running away with cots from the venue, despite announcements made by organisers to leave the cots, 'Khaat chodke chale jao'. One of the local expressed his displeasure about not being able to get any cot to take back home. "We were told by a party worker that we will get free cots and shirts after the meeting but we didn't get anything," said a local. Gandhi, however, was talking about the failure of the Akhilesh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh. "Just months before the elections, Yadav wants to repair the cycle (mascot of Samajwadi Party)," he said. Referring to Tuesday's development of Yadav taking away key ministerial berths from his uncle Shivpal Yadav, Gandhi said that "tyre of the cycle is already punctured, yesterday Akhilesh Yadav ji threw the wheel out." This was the third such incident in Rahul Gandhi's ongoing Kisan Yatra meant to strengthen the Congress in the run-up to the legislative polls early next year. The first took place at Rudrapur assembly constituency in Deoria district, from where the Delhi-bound Kisan Yatra started on September 6. Rahul is currently leading a 2,500 km-long Kisan Yatra in UP in a bid to boost the party's vote count. The 'Deoria to Dilli yatra', which started from Panchlari Kritpura village, was marked by a door-to-door campaign of collecting 'Kisan Mangpatras' (charters of farmers demands), one-to-one interaction with farmers through Khaat (cot) Sabhas.
