Hassan (Karnataka) [India], November 23 (ANI): Yatindra Siddaramaiah, Congress MLC and son of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, on Saturday said that the people have "rejected BJP's hate politics" after the Congress won all three assemblies bypolls in the state.
Congress put up an impressive show in the bye-elections by winning all three seats of Sandur, Channapatna and Shiggaon, the results of which were declared on Saturday.
The polling for all three assembly seats was held on November 13.
"Congress has won all the three assembly constituencies after the results for bypolls were announced. This shows that the people are happy with the rule of the Congress in the state, especially with the guarantee schemes," Yatindra Siddaramaiah told ANI here.
"...Also they have rejected the BJP's hate politics. BJP has been trying to destabilise the government," he alleged.
Answering a query on the Maharashtra election results, the Congres leader said, "In Maharashtra, we had expectations that we could win(but we could not win), but our national leaders and Maharashtra leaders will look into it".
After the Congress party secured victory over all three seats in the Karnataka by-polls, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday said that this by-election has been crucial to him as the BJP and the JDS leaders made false allegations against him and his government to malign his image. He further said that the people of the state did not believe in the lies spread by the BJP and the JDS.
"Above all, this by-election result was important to me for another reason. This time after I became the Chief Minister, BJP and JDS leaders have been making false allegations against me and our government and trying to malign my image. Both these parties have colluded and used everything from the Raj Bhavan to the Central Bureau of Investigation to create a scandal and try to frame me and my family," Siddaramaiah posted on X.
"They also made false allegations against my family for political hatred and made an investigation. The BJP leaders made false allegations against me and my wife to tie me down. But the people of Karnataka have seen my politics for the last four decades. No one believed the lies of BJP and JDS leaders. The election results are proof of this," he added further in his post on X.
In Karnataka, Congress' Yasir Pathan defeated former CM Basavraj Bommai's son in Shigagaon while BJP turncoat CP Yogeshwara defeated HD Kumaraswamy's son Nikhil by a massive margin in Channapatna. The Congress Annapoorna Tukaram accepted the winning certificate from the returning officer after securing 93,616 votes, defeating BJP's Bangara Hanumantha by 9,649 votes in Sandur.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar called the win a rejection of BJP's narrative in the state. "In Shiggaon, Sandur, and Channapatna, the people have rejected the statements made by the BJP and NDA leaders. Their alliance will never work in Karnataka," he said.
While Congress has retained their Sandur seat, they had also managed to snatch the seats away from Janta Dal (Secular) in Channapatna, and BJP in Shiggaon. With the party's tally reaching 137 seats in the assembly now.
The two seats had been vacated after BJP's Basavaraj Bommai and JD(S)'s H D Kumaraswamy had vacated their seats after being elected in Lok Sabha.
The by-polls were held in 48 assembly seats and two Lok Sabha seats across 15 states. (ANI)
