Earlier today, former prime minister Manmohan Singh spoke on the issue in the Rajya Sabha, calling on the Centre to fulfill the commitments made by him in this regard in 2014. Meanwhile, following the protests by TDP members in Parliament demanding special status for Andhra Pradesh, party chief and chief minister Chandrababu Naidu is set to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi along on Friday. According to reports, the Centre is not keen to grant special status to Andhra, fearing that fulfilling the demand would generate a similar demand from other states. (ANI)
