Kaithal (Haryana) [India], June 7 (ANI): AAP leader Anurag Dhanda on Friday said that the INDIA alliance was formed with the intent to save the country and its democracy and constitution and the alliance has emerged successful in doing so in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
"INDIA alliance was formed to save the country and its democracy and constitution. The alliance has emerged successful to a great extent. The people have halted the dictatorship by the BJP government by not making them win by majority," said Anurag Dhanda.
Speaking on the defeat of AAP candidate Sushil Gupta from the Kurukshetra Lok Sabha seat, he said, "...Congress-AAP alliance in Haryana could have defeated BJP on all 10 seats in the state. But due to some reasons, BJP got an edge in 5 seats. If BJP had gained this edge due to support from people then it could be understood, but if the reason is sabotage then a review is required and questions need to be raised."
Notably, the BJP turned in a sub-par performance in the Lok Sabha Polls in Haryana. The party won 5 seats with the Congress also winning 5 seats. The BJP registered a vote share of 46.11 per cent while the Congress registered a vote share of 43.67 per cent and its alliance partner the Aam Admi Party registered a vote share of 3.94 per cent. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections the BJP had won all 10 seats from the state.
According to the Election Commission of India, the BJP won 240 seats, much lower than its 2019 tally of 303. The Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong improvement, winning 99 seats. While the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance won 292 seats, the INDIA bloc crossed the 230 mark, posing stiff competition, and defying all predictions. (ANI)
