Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], November 21 (ANI): BJP's Chhattisgarh unit president Arun Sao, MP, has exuded confidence about the party's victory in the assembly polls held earlier this month and said that married women will start receiving Rs 1000 per month in their accounts and appropriate action will be taken in the alleged PSC scam.
"People enthusiastically participated in the assembly election. Every section of society blessed the BJP and on December 3, when the counting will take place, Chhattisgarh will be free from the misrule of the Congress government," the BJP leader said at a press conference.
Chhattisgarh saw two phases of polling, and November 17 polling for 70 seats in the second phase saw 75.88 per cent turnout.
The first phase of polling for 20 seats was held on November 7.
"BJP will form the government on December 3 and hurl the state on the path of development. The people gave a befitting reply to the propaganda of Congress through their active participation and support for the BJP," Sao said.
Sao is in the fray from Lormi constituency in the state.
"After forming the government in the state, women will start receiving Rs 1000 per month in their accounts, and appropriate action will be taken in the alleged PSC (public service commission) scam. The pending bonus will also be disbursed to farmers," he said.
Over 18,000 polling stations were set up for the second phase of polling in Chhattisgarh.
The campaign in Chhattisgarh saw top leaders of the Congress and BJP addressing a series of rallies.
The BJP, which ruled the state continuously between 2003 and 2018, is seeking to oust the Congress government led by Bhupesh Bahgel.
The assembly polls, coming nearly six months ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, are crucial for both the BJP and Congress for various reasons.
The counting of votes in Chhattisgarh, along with that in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram, will take place on December 3. (ANI)
