New Delhi [India], February 5 (ANI): Union Minister Ramdas Athawale on Wednesday claimed that people are turning against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Delhi Assembly elections, alleging that the party has "cheated the people."
Athawale expressed confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) victory and said that the country is progressing under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"The voting is underway in Delhi. The percentage will further increase. The people are against the AAP and Arvind Kejriwal. They have cheated the people, and that is why the AAP has to be removed and the BJP should come to power... The nation is progressing under the leadership of PM Modi. We are sure that the BJP will win in Delhi," he said.
Additionally, Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar slammed both AAP and BJP saying they have tried to deviate people from the main issues.
"They tried to deviate from the main issues, they both (AAP and BJP) were busy fighting each other, and this is true. They had no interest in addressing the issues of people. Congress did the development work in Delhi, including the metro. Congress developed Delhi in the last 15 years. People want Congress to develop Delhi further," Wadettiwar told ANI.
Meanwhile, the voter turnout of 57.70 per cent was recorded till 5 pm on Wednesday in the single-phase Delhi assembly elections, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The North-East district of the national capital continues to lead the way with the highest turnout of 63.83 per cent turnout among all districts.
