PDP-BJP playing dangerous game of fire in J-K, says Cong
New Delhi, Aug 23. (ANI): The Congress Party on Tuesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and the BJP-PDP coalition government are playing a dangerous game of fire in Jammu and Kashmir, adding that the NDA Government needs to find a modus operandi to restore normalcy in the valley. Speaking to ANI, Congress leader Manish Tewari said, "The Prime Minister, the Finance Minister and the BJP-PDP government in Jammu and Kashmir are playing a very dangerous game. They are trying to play Tweedledum and Tweedledee. A good cop bad cop routine is playing itself out." "While the Prime Minister talks of a dialogue and uses words like 'Insaniyat', 'Jamburiyat' and 'Kashmiriyat' without perhaps understanding what they mean or perhaps even without intent beyond mere rhetoric," Tewari added. Criticising Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti's remark that only five percent of youth are creating trouble in the Valley, the Congress leader said, "If the Finance Minister completely goes over the top in Jammu, you have the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti taking a hard line saying that only five percent of the people are really involved in the violence, which has paralysed the Kashmir valley for 44 days, and resulted in the death and misery to both security persons and innocent people." Tewari said, "the Prime Minister and his government need to understand that they are playing with fire in Jammu and Kashmir." "The situation is extremely sensitive. They have been made cognizant of the ground situation. And before it is too late, the Central Government needs to act and try and find a modus operandi to restore normalcy in the Valley," he added. Prime Minister Narendra Modi met a delegation of leaders of the opposition parties from Jammu and Kashmir led by National Conference leader Omar Abdullah to discuss the prevailing situation in the State. As per reports, the delegation requested the Prime Minister to impress upon the PDP-BJP state government of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to stop dealing with the situation administratively, as it was their contention that this is causing public disaffection, especially among the youth. The delegation also underscored the need to initiate a dialogue with all stakeholders to bring an end to the unrest. The delegation had met President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday and sought a political solution. They also submitted a memorandum to the President. They also met Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and apprised him of the restive situation in the valley. (ANI)
