New Delhi [India], August 4 (ANI): Launching scathing attacks on Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj over his remarks on the shortage of doctors in Hospitals, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena said on Sunday that the appointments, postings and transfers are decided by the National Capital Civil Service Authority that is headed by the Chief Minister.
In an official statement from the Raj Niwas, it said, "10 years of misgovernance masqueraded by advertisements and propaganda has begun to implode. Now that the system is crumbling, Press Conference Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj is frantically searching for alibis."
"The AAP "health model" is there for all to see. The High Court taking suo moto cognizance of the pathetic state of affairs in GNCTD hospitals, personally summoned Bharadwaj. It appointed a committee under Dr SK Sareen to improve things, but its comprehensive report was neither deliberated upon by the PC Minister, who also happens to be the Health Minister. Fraud in Mohalla clinics, no new hospital in 10 years, tenders increasing from 400 Cr to 1100 Cr for construction of hospitals, medicine purchase scam ETC, lie exposed," it added.
Further, it pointed out that any service matter- including appointments, postings, transfers, and disciplinary actions is decided by the National Capital Civil Service Authority (NCCSA) headed by CM, and put up to LG.
"CM Arvind Kejriwal has not convened a single meeting of NCCSA for ages. Even when he was out on bail and authorized by the Supreme Court to do so. PC Minister Bharadwaj would have done well to bring these matters to his Boss, Arvind Kejriwal when he was out on bail and asked him to act, rather than writing fig leaf alibis to LG," the statement said.
"It will be in the interest of the public health system in Delhi if he indulges in governance rather than doing 3-4 press conferences a day," it added.
Earlier today, AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj said that LG VK Saxena didn't give any order to recruit doctors after he wrote letters to him.
"I wrote a letter to LG Vinai Kumar Saxena in April regarding the shortage of doctors. There is a huge shortage of specialist doctors. I again wrote a letter suggesting recruiting the doctors on a contractual basis as the UPSC exam procedure is time-consuming. But still, he didn't give any order to recruit the doctors on contracts."
