Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], November 20 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Gopal Sharma on Monday alleged that his party workers were threatened and stopped from campaigning in the Civil Lines constituency in Rajasthan.
Gopal Sharma has been fielded from Civil Lines constituency and will face Congress minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas in the upcoming Rajasthan Assembly elections.
Gopal Sharma said in a press conference "It has been the tradition of Rajasthan that the politicians here are different from other states. We respect each other. I have gone to the area (Civil Lines), and have contacted people. But in Civil Lines, it seems as if there are Bihar elections. BJP hoardings are not allowed to be put up here, election material is destroyed. Police and Election Commission can check. Threats are received. Civil Lines has become the terror of goons."
Meanwhile, Congress party chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday announced seven guarantees for economic empowerment dedicated to the progress and prosperity of Rajasthan as part of the Congress manifesto in the state.
Addressing a rally in Anupgarh, Rajasthan, the party chief said that Congress is completely dedicated to the progress and prosperity of Rajasthan.
"The Congress party's social justice schemes and seven guarantees of economic empowerment are eradicating inequality in Rajasthan and will make Rajasthan more prosperous," Kharge added.
PM Narendra Modi on Monday hit out at the ruling Congress government in Rajasthan and lashed out at Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for his remarks in connection with crimes against women in the state.
Addressing a public rally in Pali, PM Modi said, "Congress has made Rajasthan number one in crimes against women. The CM says that the complaints filed by the women are fake. Can it ever happen that a woman in our country files a fake case?. The CM should say that a probe is underway, and not that the cases filed are fake. Isn't this an insult to women?"
Rajasthan is set to undergo assembly polls on November 25 and the counting of votes will be done on December 3. The BJP won 163 seats in the 2013 Legislative Assembly elections and formed the government in Rajasthan.
In the 2018 assembly elections, the Congress won 99 seats, while the BJP won 73 seats in the 200-member House. Gehlot eventually took the oath as CM with the support of BSP MLAs and Independents. (ANI)
