Panaji (Goa) [India], Feb 2 (ANI): The Opposition has again stepped up its attack on ailing Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar by saying that the Parrikar should honourably resign from the Chief Minister post due to his health issues.
"Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar should honourably resign or give charge to somebody. As a leader, he should have some class. It is his own leadership quality which shows that what sort of a person he is. A leader who is not determined," Congress leader Reginaldo Lourenco on Saturday said.
He also said that Parrikar should take a decision and not continue to come to assembly with health apparatus on his body.
"Leadership is something where you have to take a decision. I am his worst critic, but I have always respected him. What he is doing now, no one will respect him. Either you give charge to somebody or quit, but don't go to the assembly like that. With that sort of a situation, where you have a tube in your nose, where you have things coming out of your pocket. You have ruled as a Chief Minister of your state, it does not suit you," Lourenco said.
Recently, Parrikar addressed his first public gathering since he was diagnosed with a pancreatic ailment with tubes in his nose.
With a tube in his nose, ailing Parrikar on Wednesday presented the State Budget in the Goa Assembly, asserting that he was "high on josh".
In his about six-minute speech, the Goa chief minister vowed to serve the state with sincerity, integrity, dedication until his last breath.
Parrikar, who was wearing medical paraphernalia -- a nasogastric tube, read the operative part of the budget.
For long, the Congress has been demanding that it should be allowed to form the government in the state, claiming that Parrikar's prolonged illness and inability to attend office was taking a toll on administration and governance.
Parrikar is suffering from a pancreatic ailment and has been in and out of hospitals in Goa, Mumbai, Delhi and New York since February 2018. (ANI)
