Palaniswami says vested interest making issue out of Jayalalithaa's death

Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) [India], Feb. 24 (ANI): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Friday said there is no mystery behind former chief minister J. Jayalalithaa's death, adding that vested interests were making an issue out of it for political gain. "There is no mystery over Jayalalithaa's death, people are just making an issue out of it," Palaniswami told media here. The chief minister further said the ruckus that took place on February 18 in the state assembly is a matter that is sub-judice. "The Tamil Nadu Assembly ruckus is sub judice matter and everything will be done according to the law," he added. Meanwhile, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader and former Tamil Nadu chief minister O. Panneerselvam has called for probe into Jayalalithaa's death. "When I was the chief minister of the state, I initiated an enquiry into Jayalalithaa's death, but everything went upside down. The state and central government should enquire into the death of Jayalalithaa," Panneerselvam said, adding, that they would continue to wage a war till answers onAmma's death are given. Taking a dig at AIADMK general secretary V.K. Sasikala and slamming her family legacy agenda, Panneerselvam said Jayalalithaa was against the fact that the family should rule the party. "Jayalalithaa was clear that no family should hijack the party. Till her death she never allowed the family members. She had firm grip on the party. But see the party and government has gone into the hands of the same family," he added. Tamil Nadu politics is witnessing a turn of events every other day following Jayalalithaa's demise. (ANI)
