Pakistan spies had documents of BSF staff details, defence maps: Delhi Police

New Delhi [India], Oct 27 (ANI): The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police on Thursday confirmed the arrest of two people of Pakistan origin who are residents of Rajasthan and the expected deportation of a Pakistan high commission staffer for "espionage activities", for possessing and passing on classified defence-related documents to Pakistan. Crime Branch Joint Commissioner, Ravindra Yadav told media here that the documents recovered from the high commission staffer included defence deployment maps, details of BSF staff and other visa-related documents. "Two people has been arrested. One was a Pakistan high commission member king pin. Maulana Ramzan Khan alis Riyaz Hazrat and Subhash Jahangir. They belong to Lahore. Maulana gives education to small children and reads namaz in Qureshi Masjid, Subhash used to run a small business in Lahore. Maulana knew he was in need of money so he included Subhash with him. These modules were active for 1 and half years now. We got there information in the last six months that they are spying for Pakistani ISIS," he said. The Delhi Police officer said they were apprehended at the Delhi Zoo on October 25 when they were meeting to exchange the documents and were tracking their activities for six months. "On 25th October, we got confirmed information that they are going to meet in Delhi Zoology garden at around 10 a.m. on this information our DCP and ACP Chanakyapuri team was there in civil uniform where the elements was apprehended," he added. Ravindra Yadav, said that the documents recovered from the high commission staffer included defence deployment maps, details of BSF staff and other visa-related documents. The staffer was a havildar in Baloch regiment of Pakistan army who was later hired by ISI. He was currently working in the visa department of the High Commission. "On initial interrogation, the Pakistan High Commissioner official said he is an Indian citizen (Rajput) and also showed a fake AADHAR card baring Chandni chowk address," he added. Yadav also added that the police would soon arrest another spy identified as Shoaib in connection with the case. This is not the first time that employees of the Pakistan High Commission have come under the radar over alleged espionage in India. Last year, police claimed to have busted an ISI spy ring in the high commission and five persons were arrested. (ANI)
