Ajmer (Rajasthan) [India], April 26 (ANI): Union Minister Bhagirath Choudhary has expressed anguish over the killings of 26 people, mostly tourists, in the Jammu and Kashmir Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 and asserted that Pakistan or whoever else was responsible would not be "spared".
Referring to the all-party meeting held in the aftermath of the terror attack, Choudhary told ANI, " Everyone in the all-party meeting unitedly said that the terrorists should be punished in a way that it is never repeated. In Pahalgam, some lost their sons, some lost their fathers. The entire country is in support of the government. Those (Pakistan) who shelter terrorism do not support anyone... Pakistan or whoever is behind this will not be spared," the Union Minister told ANI a day earlier.
He also condemned the terror incident and said, "A heinous crime was committed. The killings of innocents in front of their wives and kids is condemnable to the core. Prime Minister (Narendra Modi), Union Home Minister (Amit Shah) and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh) took immediate cognisance of the situation, went to Srinagar," Choudhary added.
The all-party meeting was attended by leaders from several political parties.
Twenty-six people were killed in the terror attack in Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday.
India has taken strong countermeasures against Pakistan for its support to cross-border terrorism.
The government has temporarily suspended the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan. This decision was made at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) held on April 23, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and attended by Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. (ANI)
