Pak's offer for supplies to J-K is 'height of irresponsibility': Congress

New Delhi, Aug 15 (ANI): Reacting strongly to Pakistan's proposal of sending supplies to Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress Party condemned its asian neighbour terming the statement as "the height of irresponsibility." Speaking to ANI, Congress Leader P.C. Chacko said that Pakistan is taking advantage of the confusion prevailing in Kashmir, adding that the confusion in the valley is caused by the Bharatiya Janata Party government at the Centre and the BJP-PDP government's inability to control the situation in the valley. "Pakistan sending relief materials to India is probably something which they never dare to do that. Government of India is not speaking to Pakistan in the language they should speak. Today there is cease fire violations and border is tense. In Jammu and Kashmir they (Pakistan) are fermenting troubles, the government in the state and the Centre have failed miserably in handling the situations which is becoming a breeding ground for Pakistan," he said. "Their statement on sending relief materials to Jammu and Kashmir is highly irresponsible," he added. He further criticised Pakistan stating that they should instead look into their own social and economic problems emanating in Balochistan, Pakistan Occupied Kashmir before talking about India's problems with Kashmir. "Pakistan has to look into their own problems, whether in Balochistan or in POK or in Pakistan, they should look into their own socio-economic problem instead shifting their attention towards Kashmir," he said. India's reacted strongly on Friday after it received a note verbale from Pakistan Foreign Ministry proposing to send supplies to Jammu and Kashmir. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Vikas Swarup, in a strongly worded statement said "A communication was apparently delivered to our High Commission in Islamabad on August 12. I can only characterise its contents that propose sending supplies to the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir as absurd." "India and others in the region have already received enough of Pakistan's trademark exports -- international terrorism, cross-border infiltrators, weapons, narcotics and fake currency," the statement read. Yesterday, Pakistan High Commissioner at the embassy in New Delhi, said that his country will continue to extend full diplomatic, political and moral support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. India's reaction also came on a day when ceasefire was violated in Poonch District of Jammu and Kashmir yesterday. (ANI)
