Pak putting Hafiz Saeed on terror list shouldn't be 'over-interpreted' by India: Expert

New Delhi [India], Feb. 19 (ANI): After the Jamaat Ud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed finally been named under the country's Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) which puts major restrictions on all his movements, Defence Expert on Sunday said India should not 'over-interpret' it as it is not a very major achievement. Defence Expert Commodore (Retd.) Uday Bhaskar told ANI that the Pakistan has yet come to a political determination about terrorism and support to such groups and Hafiz Saeed in particular and also Masood Azar. Taking cognizance of the initiative taken by Pakistan, Bhaskar warned that India should not claim satisfaction. "So, by all mean we should monitor and take a note of it but let us not over interpret it. But I would say that at this stage we should notice, we should take cognisence or at least acknowledge the particular step taken by the Pakistan government or the Punjab province. But I don't think we should over interpret it. Meaning, this is not a major step which have in a way restricted Hafiz Saeed's movements in such a way that India can claim satisfaction or link it with what happened in 2008 and after," he added. Earlier on Saturday, the provincial government of Punjab in Pakistan included names of Saeed and his four aides in the 'Fourth Schedule' of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA). According to Dawn, a senior police officer privy to the development said on Friday that the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) added their names to the list of the 1,450 'Fourth Schedulers' on an order of the federal Interior Ministry. The men were identified by the Interior Ministry as "active members of the Jamaatud Dawa and Falah-i-Insaniyat". The ministry directed the CTD to "move and take necessary action" against them. The names of three prisoners transferred to Pakistan from Guantanamo Bay had also been placed on the list, he said. Saeed was placed under house arrest on January 30 and his name has also been put on the Exit Control List. (ANI)
