Pak offering aid to Kashmir unrest victims is a 'joke': Defence expert

New Delhi, Aug. 15 (ANI): After Pakistan offered medicines for the treatment of people injured during the unrest following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, defence expert Rahul Jalali today ridiculed Islamabad saying it was a bit of a joke when Pakistan had offered medicines for the state of Jammu and Kashmir, as India is self sufficient enough to take care of its own needs. "Well, it was a bit of a joke when Pakistan had offered medicines for the state of Jammu and Kashmir. I think Pakistan, which gets all its medicines from outside is in no position to offer medicines anywhere," Jalali told ANI. "It will be to be very good, if they had taken these medicines to those who were injured and killed in Quetta which took place recently, I think Quetta was more important that Kashmir because India is self sufficient, has more than enough to take care of its own needs. So, I think it just a gesture, which is empty and hollow," Jalali added. Reacting on Pakistan's High Commissioner in Delhi Abdul Basit's remarks on 'Independence of Kashmir', Jalali said it is very serious because Basit has been constantly making statements, which are extremely annoying and a go against diplomatic norms of any country, adding that it was high time that India takes action against the envoy. Jalali further said that Pakistan will go to any extent to promote terrorism and to foster terrorism in Kashmir. Celebrating Pakistan's Independence Day at its embassy on Sunday in the national capital, Basit said, "As far as the relation of Jammu and Kashmir is concerned, we dedicate this year's Independence Day to Kashmir's freedom. We are confident that the sacrifices made by the people of Jammu and Kashmir would be successful." He asserted Pakistan has always given moral support to Jammu and Kashmir's freedom struggle and would continue to do so. "Struggle for independence will continue till Kashmir gets freedom; sacrifice of the people of Kashmir will not go in vain," he added. (ANI)
