Pak military pressurising Sharif to malign India, says former diplomat
New Delhi, July 15 (ANI): Former diplomat N.N. Jha on Friday rubbished Pakistan's assertion that 'excessive brutalities' is being exerted by the Indian armed forces to control the violent protests in Kashmir. He, however, lauded India's permanent representative to United Nations Syed Akbaruddin for giving a befitting reply to the Asian neighbour. "The decision to keep on agitating in all the international fora about Kashmir and try to malign India by talking about the so-called 'excessive brutalities' so on and so forth is absolutely rubbish and I think our Permanent Representative has been pretty orchestrative and gave a very good reply," he said. Earlier on Monday, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed deep shock over the killing of Burhan Wani and other civilians while condemning the excessive and unlawful use of force against the innocent people in Kashmir. "Regrettably, earlier today, we have seen an attempt at misuse of this UN platform. The attempt came from Pakistan, a country that covets the territory of others; a country that uses terrorism as state policy towards that misguided end; a country that extols the virtues of terrorists and that provides sanctuary to UN-designated terrorists; and a country that masquerades its efforts as support for human rights and self determination," said Akbaruddin while retorting to the allegation. Jha further stated that the Pakistani military is playing a daunting role and pressurising Sharif to malign India's image in the international forum. "I am sure that Pakistani military have told Sharif to keep this thing highlighted and India should be maligned as much as possible, he will even go a step further to keep them (the military) happy and also make the Pakistan public happy," Jha told ANI. Pakistan has called for implementation of the Security Council resolutions on Kashmir at the UN. (ANI)
