Patna (Bihar) [India], June 3 (ANI): After the exit polls predicted a third straight term for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), party's MP Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday exuded confidence that the mega alliance would emerge victorious in an unprecedented and historic way.
In a conversation with ANI, Prasad said, "Their (INDIA opposition bloc) defeat is certain. Our victory will be unprecedented and historic".
The BJP leader also threw brickbats at the INDIA bloc leaders over their remarks on the exit polls.
"When exit polls predicted victory in Telangana, they (Congress) were very happy...Today, when exit polls are predicting a victory for PM Modi, they are worried....The same happens with EVM....If they win in Karnataka, West Bengal, Kerala, Telangana and Himachal Pradesh, EVMs are correct....Where BJP wins, EVMs are bad," he said.
The former union minister further stated, "What can we do if they do not get votes"?
The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance is poised for a hat-trick win in Lok Sabha polls with a massive majority, Exit polls predicted on Saturday and indicated that the ruling party at the Centre would improve its performance in several states ruled by other parties.
A few exit polls predicted that the BJP-led NDA could reach the goal of "400 paar" stated by BJP leaders in the run-up to the Lok Sabha polls.
The exit polls predicted that the ruling BJP-led NDA is poised to improve its performance over its 2019 record when it won 352 seats. Two polls predicted the BJP also improving its numbers from the 303 seats it won in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
Meanwhile, several INDIA bloc leaders rubbished the poll predictions calling it "Modi media poll".
Earlier on Sunday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, while speaking to reporters here in the national capital, said, "It is not exit poll, it is Modi media poll. It is his fantasy poll."
Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said that the poll predictions are "laughable".
"If any exit poll can say that the BJP will win up to 7 seats in Kerala - either they are suffering from heatstroke or they don't understand Kerala. Some of these exit polls are also laughable for other reasons. I don't think we should take them seriously," the Congress leader told reporters.
However, if the exit poll predictions come true on June 4 when votes are counted, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will become the only PM after Jawaharlal Nehru to win three successive terms in Lok Sabha polls. The exit polls predicted 'Modi 3.0' with PM Modi having led the BJP's poll effort through rallies and roadshows in various parts of the country.
The Lok Sabha polls were held in seven phases starting from April 19 to June 1.
The counting of votes will be done on Tuesday. (ANI)
