Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 12 (ANI): Following the Reasi terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi which took away nine lives leaving 42 injured, Maharashtra Congress Chief Nata Patole on Wednesday lashed out at the central government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stating the borders of the country are not secured.
In a conversation with ANI, Patole said, "Our borders are not safe. PM Modi should focus on this instead of the Congress... No one will support the incident that recently took place. Their foreign policy is being exposed."
Earlier on Sunday, as many as nine people were killed and 42 others were injured after a bus carrying pilgrims from Shiv Khori shrine was ambushed by terrorists in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. The bus plunged into a gorge following the attack.
The Jammu and Kashmir police have said that the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba is believed to be behind the attack. JK police have formed 11 teams to investigate the attack.
A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) assessed the situation in Reasi on Monday and the NIA's forensic team is working on collecting evidence.
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Congress Chief also replied to state Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's remarks in which he said that the BJP's slogan of "400 Paar" was linked to false narratives by the opposition.
"People have taught them a lesson for all their faults and sins. They need to forget about '400 paar'. The farmers of the state are committing suicide, there is a lack of drinking water, labourers don't have any work, and the government is not doing anything about it", Nana Patole said.
Earlier today, CM Shinde said that the slogan "400 Paar" was linked to false narratives by the opposition.
"We suffered losses in some places during the polls, because of the false narrative that was set... We suffered losses in Maharashtra as well. They (the opposition) set a false narrative that the Constitution would be changed and the reservation would be scrapped. But in fact, nothing of this sort was going to happen. The '400-paar' slogan created misconceptions and raised apprehensions in the minds of people that in future it will create issues," Shinde said at a public meeting.
The combined strength of the 'Mahayuti' alliance consisting of the --BJP, Shiv Sena, and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-Ajit Pawar)-- bagged 17 seats. The BJP secured dipped to nine seats in the state against 23 in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
The INDIA bloc, on the other hand, composed of the Congress, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction), and the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) gained 30 seats. (ANI)
