"Opposition behind this," says JDU's Mokama candidate Anant Singh's lawyer

JD(U) candidate Anant Singh's lawyer, Naveen Kumar, on Sunday, alleged that the arrest of the Mokama candidate intends to influence the votes in the Bihar elections.

Patna (Bihar) [India], November 2 (ANI): JD(U) candidate Anant Singh's lawyer, Naveen Kumar, on Sunday, alleged that the arrest of the Mokama candidate intends to influence the votes in the Bihar elections.
The JD(U) candidate's lawyer further alleged that the opposition is behind this situation and expressed his condolences for the Jan Swaraj supporter, Dularchand Yadav, who was killed during firing between the two sides while campaigning in the Mokama Assembly seat ahead of the upcoming elections in the State. However, Kumar also expressed that Anant Singh will likely be remanded.
"...Their only motive is to influence the vote, and there's no other intention. Dularchand's death was very tragic. We express our condolences, but he was unnecessarily targeted. The issue is related to the election...The opposition is behind this...The police officers will take further action. They have arrested him. After that, he will be presented before the judge. He will be remanded...," Kumar told ANI.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya welcomed the arrest of Janata Dal (United) leader and Bihar Assembly candidate from Mokama Anant Kumar Singh in connection with the Dularchand Yadav murder case.
Maurya, who is BJP's Bihar co-in charge, said that the arrest sent a clear message to the people that there is no discrimination in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
"The law and order situation is very good...The arrest of Anant Singh is a clear message that there is no discrimination under the leadership of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar," Maurya who is among the a star campaigners for the Bihar Assembly polls told ANI.
Former Bihar MLA and Janata Dal (United) candidate from Mokama, Anant Kumar Singh was arrested in connection with the murder case of Jan Swaraj supporter Dularchand Yadav on October 30. The Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya Sharma said that Anant Singh and two of his associates, Manikant Thakur and Ranjeet Ram, have been arrested. All three will be presented before the magistrate.
In the light of the recent murder of politician Dularchand Yadav on October 30 in Mokama assembly constituency, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar reiterated the Election Commission of India's zero tolerance towards violence.He assured the voters of Bihar that the numerous police officials, returning officers, zilla parishad officials are ready to conduct a free and fair elections, which will set a benchmark for the whole world.
"I want to appeal to everyone to come and participate in the election process, and everyone come to exercise their right to vote. On the topic of violence, Election Commission wants to make it clear that the Election Commission has zero tolerance towards violence. No incident of violence will be tolerated. The Election Commission is ready to make sure that the electors can peacefully vote. Our 243 returning officers, that many observers, every zilla's collectors, zilla adhikari, SP, SSP, police observers, everyone is ready," CEC Kumar told reporters in Kanpur. (ANI)
