Panaji (Goa) [India], March 28 (ANI): After the Enforcement Directorate summoned Aam Aadmi Party Goa leaders in Delhi Liquor policy case, party MLA Venzy Viegas on Thursday said that AAP's influence is spreading nationwide, and the only perceived method to halt its progress is by apprehending its top leaders.
Viegas emphasized the growing popularity of AAP and its widespread appeal, particularly on issues such as education, healthcare, electricity quality, women's safety, and entrepreneurship. He suggested that AAP continues to secure victories in various states based on these issues, and the only apparent strategy to impede its expansion is by arresting its leaders just before elections.
"Arvind Kejriwal is growing popular and AAP is expanding its base immensely on issues like good education, good health, good quality of electricity, women safety and entrepreneurship. AAP is winning from one state to another on these issues and if someone has to intercept this party from expanding then the only option is to nab its supremo and main leaders in every state just before the elections and to stop them from campaigning," he said.
"From every house, Arvind Kejriwal will come out, then what will they do? Will they arrest everyone?"
Earlier today, AAP Goa chief Amit Palekar and AAP Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas arrived at the Enforcement Directorate office in Panaji on Thursday.
The ED had earlier summoned Palekar, Ramarao Wagh, Datta Prasad Naik and the president of Bhandari Samaj, Ashok Naik, to join the investigation on Thursday, in connection with the Delhi Liquor Policy case.
Meanwhile, the Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday extended the custodial remand of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by four more days in a money laundering case related to Excise Policy.
ED, while seeking further remand, submitted that data on one mobile phone (belonging to the arrestee's wife) has been extracted and is being analyzed. However, data from the other 4 digital devices seized during a search at Arvind Kejriwal's premises on March 21, 2024 (belonging to the arrestee himself) is yet to be extracted as the arrestee has sought time to provide password/login credentials after consulting with his lawyers.
Also, the Delhi High Court on Thursday dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) that sought removal of Arvind Kejriwal from the post of Delhi Chief Minister following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in excise policy case and said there is no scope of judicial interference in the matter.
