New Delhi [India], July 24 (ANI): BJP MP Nishikant Dubey launched a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi, questioning his commitment as Leader of Opposition and criticising his approach to parliamentary responsibilities, media appearances, and understanding of procedural rules.
"Rahul Gandhi is the only LoP in the history of the country who wants nothing to do with the interests of the country. Have you ever seen him do serious politics? He appears in front of the media for hardly two minutes. His attendance in many sessions is zero..," he said.
Dubey also accused Gandhi of lacking awareness about legislation related to the SIR issue and contrasted him with other senior leaders, while commenting on Operation Sindoor and issues related to POK.
"Parliament has certain rules and ethics. Rule 349 says a member cannot leave the house soon after speaking in the House. If a member wants to speak, he/she should sit in the House. I think he hasn't read the rules. He needs to learn how the government works, and he should learn that from Mallikarjun Kharge itself, if not anyone else... Provisional report says that we have won in Operation Sindoor. The permanent report will be made when we take over POK... His statement on SIR reflects that he is unaware of the law passed by his father. A similar SIR has been done in 2003 as well," he added.
On Wednesday, Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi made sensational claims on SIR, saying that an "election theft" is ongoing in the country.
"Hindustan mein election chori kiye jaa rahe hai (Election/Votes are being stolen in India)," Gandhi told reporters here.
The Lok Sabha LoP was responding to a question about 52 lakh voters being removed from the voter list in Bihar amid the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
Gandhi stated that they cheated in Maharashtra, and when asked to clarify, the constitutional body refused to show them videos by changing the rules.
"This is not only about 52 lakh votes or about Bihar. They cheated in Maharashtra. We requested that the Election Commission show us the voters' list. They didn't show us that. We said, 'Show us the video. They changed the rules. They stole the elections. Maharashtra had one crore new voters," the Congress MP said.
Gandhi alleged that the Election Commission has been attempting to overhaul the entire system in Bihar by revising the voters' list, ever since they realised that the opposition had uncovered the "game" behind the sudden emergence of new votes.
"In Karnataka, we have caught them cheating. I will show you and the election commission. They have realised that we have understood their game. Regarding the Lok Sabha elections, we selected one constituency and conducted a deep dive. It took us six months to understand their system: how it works, who votes and where, and how new voters are introduced. Now they are trying to change the entire system in Bihar," he added. (ANI)
