Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], September 20 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday welcomed the Union Cabinet's nod to the 'One Nation, One Election' proposal, saying that the move will strengthen the country's democratic framework.
"I welcome the government's decision on 'One Nation, One Election'. This decision will strengthen the democratic structure of the country. It is not just an electoral reform but an important step towards building a great democracy," Sai said while speaking to reporters.
Sai also spoke about the recent incident in which school books were allegedly found lying at a recycling centre in Raipur.
"Our government is determined towards the policy of zero tolerance. You have seen that for those who have been involved in any wrong activities, action is being taken against them. A few days back, syllabus books were found in the trash, when it came to my cognisance, I suspended a few people who were responsible for that," he said.
"The investigation is on; when the report comes, further action will be taken," he added.
Earlier in the day, CM Sai participated in the 'Yuva Utsav 3.0 Rising Bharat 2047' event in the state capital, Raipur.
"In the last 10 years, PM Modi has done incredible work in the infrastructure sector in Chhattisgarh. Our railway network has been strengthened, national highways have been constructed, and economic corridors have been developed. These initiatives bring investment opportunities to Chhattisgarh. We have prepared our budget to fulfil the vision of 'Viksit Chhattisgarh'," he said.
The Chief Minister highlighted the government's various initiatives aimed at bringing substantial development to the state.
"We have implemented the new National Education Policy in the state. The state will progress in true sense when children are well educated. Through this medium, not only employment opportunities will be possible for the students, but they will also feel the urge to learn, which is the biggest secret to progress," he said.
"Professionals, entrepreneurs, and industrialists present at the event know there is a huge demand of trained engineers in the state. To address this, we are setting up industrial institutions, and similar to IITs, we have decided to establish five institutes for continuous development," the CM added.
CM Sai also emphasised the government's focus on ensuring employment opportunities for all. "Chhattisgarh will develop faster when children from remote areas are well educated. The government is working to create large-scale employment opportunities for students, opening up avenues for technical education. Our goal is also to ensure transparency in the examination system. Recently, we invited applications to fill vacancies for medical staff in the health department, and ads were published in newspapers a few days ago," he said.
"The recruitment process for police officers started a week ago to fill senior positions, and we are planning to hold exams similar to UPSC in Chhattisgarh to ensure transparency in the system," he added.
The Chief Minister mentioned that IT firms are being invited to the state to promote development and achieve progress targets.
"The government has also set up a single-window system, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and is creating investment opportunities to rapidly accelerate the state's progress. By including the people in the development process, the government is working towards the holistic growth of the state," he said.
CM Sai further highlighted that Chhattisgarh's economy is driven by agriculture, offering significant opportunities for the people. (ANI)
