One killed in gas leakage in Rourkela Steel Plant
Rourkela (Odisha) [India], Jan 26 (ANI): At least one person was killed in a gas leakage in Rourkela Steel Plant on Thursday. Five others are critically ill and are currently undergoing treatment in the Rourkela Ispat General Hospital (IGH). "Yes there is safety lapse. But Rourkela Steel Plant should see that this should not happen again. I think they will inquire into it by their own system because the specialists should see those areas where hazardous and poisonous gas is kept. If they had checked earlier it may not have happened," Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram said. "One person is dead and others are recovering. According to safety act, those companies who had engaged themselves should give compensation and bear all the expenses of treatment," he added. They got injured after a gas leakage from a blast furnace in Rourkela Steel Plant yesterday night. According to reports, the five workers came in contact with the hot gas coming out from the blast furnace in the steel plant. (ANI)
