National Conference president Farooq Abdullah

Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Mar 17 (ANI): National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah on Sunday said his son Omar Abdullah will become the next Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir if his party comes to power in the state.
“I want to make it clear, I won't be the chief minister (in Jammu and Kashmir), Omar Abdullah will become the chief minister. He is young, I am old. I can't run like these young men,” Farooq said while addressing a rally here.
He later went on to criticise the NDA government over the promises made before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
“I want to ask Prime Minister Prime Modi whether inflation has risen and prices of petrol and diesel have increased or not. They said they will give jobs to two crore people every year, means 10 crore people should have gotten jobs. I won’t talk about the rest of India, but how many people got jobs in Jammu and Kashmir? Prime Minister Modi is in danger, not the country. They are dividing the people,” Abdullah said.
“They say that we have taught a lesson to Pakistan… Very good… They went there got one of their planes crashed there… They say we even shot down one of their planes, that’s also very good. But I want to know when our Jawans were killed in Chhattisgarh, did Prime Minister Modi or any of his ministers go there to give floral tribute to the Jawans? Today also our Jawans are being killed, who is crying for them? Only their family members are crying,” he added.
The National Conference leader also criticised the BJP for dividing people over the Ram temple issue.
“They keep saying that we will build Ram temple in Ayodhya. I want to know - does Ram only belongs to Hindus? In your textbooks, it’s written that Ram belongs to the entire world – he belongs to British, Americans, Russians and all of us, whether you accept it or not. They keep saying that Muslims are stopping it (construction of Ram temple). Muslims are not stopping them. However, they do this to divide people and spread hatred,” he said. (ANI)
