Omar Abdullah miffed with passing of 'sham' GST resolution in J-K Assembly
New Delhi [India], July 5 (ANI): Expressing absolute disappointment over the passing of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) resolution by the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah on Wednesday termed it as a 'sham', adding that the resolution is bereft of specifics. Drawing an analogy with a blank cheque, Omar said it was like asking for the members to sign a cheque without telling them the amount that will be entered on the cheque before presentation. Omar took to Twitter to express the same:

With absolutely no clarity of what "constitutional safeguards" the BJPDP Govt in J&K has agreed with the centre the sham resolution passes.
— Omar Abdullah (@abdullah_omar) 5 July 2017

This is what I'd said yesterday & the resolution, bereft of specifics, is exactly the blank cheque that I'd foreseen. https://t.co/PCGblEQJbc
— Omar Abdullah (@abdullah_omar) 5 July 2017
Criticising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-People's Democratic Party (PDP)-led Government in Jammu and Kashmir, Omar said the administration could not come up with convincing arguments. "As expected the Govt. reply was full of hyperbole & devoid of substance. The BJPDP Govt had decided to apply GST so why the theatrics?" he tweeted. The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly passed the GST resolution earlier today. (ANI)
