NRHM scam: SC dismisses Khuswaha's bail plea
New Delhi [India], Mar. 3 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed former Uttar Pradesh Minister Babu Singh Khuswaha's petition seeking bail. Senior Advocate Abhishekh Manu Singhvi submitted before the court that his client Kushwaha has been running around the court since last four years also the charges under which he is booked for has a maximum conviction of seven years, for which the court has still declined his submission and dismissed the bail application. Earlier on February 17, the court issued a notice to the Uttar Pradesh Government and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the case related to the NRHM scam against Kushwaha. The apex court, which also sought a detailed reply from both parties by February 24, had earlier refused to grant interim bail to Kushwaha. The court also asked him to appear after four months. It was alleged that a huge sum of money was siphoned off by politicians, bureaucrats and doctors from the fund meant for NRHM. Kushwaha, who was a minister during the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) rule, was arrested on March 3, 2012, for his alleged involvement in this case. (ANI)
